Besides that weird hiccup, I had possibly the best birthday I can remember with parts I can´t remembe (only joking Mom and Dad). It started off with chocolate chip banana pancakes with Becca and Adam, then spent the day rafting the lower Jondachi and Hollin rivers with friends, the first time I´ve ever been on the river for a birthday. I feel so lucky to be traveling with such good friends and to have met so many more along the way. It is funny how a family sort of forms when you´re traveling. A family that lasts for maybe just a few days, but regardless during those days they are the center of everything you do.
This group in Tena is a good one. I cannot remember the last time I got so many gifts for a birthday; chocolate bars, a fanny pack, earrings, a very innappropriate song performed in front of the entire group, guayusa crowns to make tea, a lime, a bracelet, a river trip, Adam printed out pictures from our river trip and wrote the most hilarious captions on them, and to boot an awesome party that was pulled together after everyone partook in a big day of rafting and\or kayaking. We made tacos, mojitos, two blackberry cobblers and the group got me a special cake to push my face into. Then I was thrown into the pool after which everybody ended up in the pool and we finished the night off dancing at the disco.
I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people. 23 is going to be a really good year.
