I have seen only one speed limit sign, which I actually believe is a speed minimum sign. The rule seems to be, the more rain, the faster you go.
Lane lines are more like guidelines and the preferred use is to straddle them. Driving in both lanes is obviously the best choice because if one lane seems to be moving faster than the other, it is far easier to cut someone off and move to the faster lane. If both lanes are moving slowly, the middle is always an option.
As far as I can tell, a driving test in Ecuador consists of honking. The very skilled drivers can express their every emotion with a single tone.
