Miraculously I made it safe to Quito. I got out of customs about 23:30 and quickly realized I had no idea who I was looking for. All I knew was that he was Eduardo´s son, which wasn´t very helpful in a crowd of a hundred or so Ecuadorians. After panicking for about 25 minutes, they eventually found me. Andrés and his girlfriend Anya picked me up and took me to a wonderful little hostel in the northern part of Quito. Exhausted I went to sleep immediately. I woke up around 8 am with an 'oh shit'.
I had no idea where I was, in terms of the city. Andrés ´mother, Eva, was picking me up at 10:30 for shopping and lunch, but I had no idea what she looked like.
To make a long story short, everything worked out fantastically. Ecuadorians are some of the most kind and generous people I have met. I am beyond lucky to know this family. My spanish has taken a serious downhill from Spain. People call me Kiki or La Gringa, and my taxi driver kept laughing at my accent. Mierda.
Going to the country tomorrow for mariscos and Parisian duck. Até log
