Arrived in Cuenca last night; a city in southern Ecuador right outside of Cajas National Park. Unfortunately Becca and I are both a little sick.
We wandered around the city for a few hours this morning and it is beautiful. It is an old colonial center with some beautifully restored houses and museums. A river runs between the old and new parts of the city, and in the old town houses hang off the hill to overlook the river.
Montañita was a fun little vacation. We surfed every day (usually twice a day) and got to test our salsa skills late at night. It was fun to meet people from all over the world and be accepted into a small backpacking community for nearly a week. However it is nice to have left Montañita when we did. It was a very laid back and touristy little surf town that liked to rage at night but I don´t know if I could have lasted too many more days there.
So here we are snuffling around quaint little Cuenca. After a 1.75 almuerzo we are back in the hostel for the day with a box of tea, package of cough drops, bottle of orange juice and a stack of books.
